Chirila leads Senators in Sacramento
John Chirila shot his second 76 in as many days to lead the Carson High School boys golf team on the final day of the Joe Berry Junior Masters on Saturday in Sacramento.
The Senators shot 412 as a team on the Ancil Hoffman layout to finish the two-day tournament with an 818 total. Carson was 18th out of 24 teams coming into Saturday’s round.
The event attracted a blue-chip field that featured some of California’s premiere prep golf programs.
“Fifteen of the 24 teams broke 400 on Friday, so that tells you what kind of competition we were up against,” Carson coach Paul Croghan said. “That kind of competition is great experience for us. Hopefully it will pay off for us down the road, and it will.”
Josh Bratzler also shot 82, Steve Prim 83, Nick Carlson 85, Justin Bryant 86 and Toby Steele 87 for the Senators.
