LAS VEGAS — The University of Nevada baseball team lost its final game of the Mountain West regular season 4-2 at UNLV in a Governor’s Series contest Saturday.

Nevada finishes fourth in the MW with 15-15 mark and will play Fresno State in the first round of the MW Championship on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Wolf Pack is 28-25 overall. The Rebels tied New Mexico for the regular-season championship with a 20-10 conference mark and went 33-21 overall.

UNLV scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the third and Nevada was held in check until scoring twice in the top of the ninth. Two of the Rebels runs were unearned as a result of a Pack error.

Nevada had opportunities to score stranding 10 runners on base in the game. Center fielder Jay Anderson’s sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth scored second baseman Scott Kaplan and the Pack were on the scoreboard. First baseman Austin Byler’s single scored catcher Ryan Teel in the inning but that would be all for the Pack as it fell 4-2.

Jason Deitrich (2-2) suffered the loss allowing four runs, two earned in six innings on the mound. Kenny Oakley (4-6) pitched eight shutout innings and surrendered three hits to earn his fourth win of the season.

Byler (2-for-5) was the only Nevada player with multiple hits collecting two of the Pack’s six in the game and drove in one run.

Morgan Stotts (2-for-3, RBI) topped UNLV with two hits and drove in one as the Rebels had seven in the game.
