Fallon tennis splits games
Both the Greenwave boys and girls tennis teams split against Sparks and Incline as the regular season wrapped up against North Tahoe on Thursday.
The Fallon boys won via forfeit against Sparks but dropped a 12-6 contest against Incline after the match was rescheduled due to snow last week. The Lady Wave fell to Sparks, 12-6, and lost a tough one to Incline, 11-7.
Seniors Myles Getto and Blake Malkovich swept their doubles matches against Incline. They defeated Brayden Hock and Jacob Collins, 6-2; Kai Martinez and Nigel Louden, 6-3; and Jake Harrell and Paul Larson, 6-3.
Senior Josh Mikulak and junior Compton Lords defeated Harrell-Larson, 6-3, and Martinez-Louden, 6-0, but fell to Hock-Collins, 7-6 (7-3). In singles play, Ben Jamieson was the only victor for Fallon as he defeated Tommy Ornburg, 6-1.
For the Lady Wave, junior Jamie Bekiares and sophomore Ashby Trotter each swept their singles matches with Bekiares winning all three, 6-0, against Sparks. Trotter won 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2.
Sophomore Brooklyn Whitaker and senior Brynlee Shults swept their three doubles matches for the second time in a row after blanking Sparks 6-0 in all three. Junior Selene Montes and senior Abigail Ritts swept their three, as well, winning 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2.
Whitaker and Shults won all three doubles matches against Incline. They defeated Carolyn Eppolito and Katherine Tong, 6-1; Millie Jenkins and Lily Price, 7-5; and Sophia Reed and Summer Ferrell, 6-1. Montes and senior Ritts won one match, a 6-2 victory over Sala and Reed.
Bekiares defeated Michelle Young, 6-0, and Taylor Redfern, 6-2, before dropping a 6-1 contest to Victorie Valente. Trottor defeated Yong, 6-2, but lost to Redfern and Valente by the same score, 6-0.
