Fishing report for week of 11/10

Special note: All applicable open streams, creeks and rivers in the State of California will close to 1999 fishing on Monday.

ALPINE LAKE: Ebbetts Pass Road is closed.

BLUE LAKES (UPPER AND LOWER): Road is closed at end of pavement.

BOCA RESERVOIR: No report.

CAPLES LAKE: No report.

CARSON RIVERS (EAST AND WEST) IN CALIF:

East Carson River: No report.

West Carson River: No report.

CRATER LAKE: No report.

DAVIS LAKE: Limits were the rule. Calif. F&G recently planted rainbows and German browns in the 6-15 pound class. Shore anglers, boaters, fly fishermen and float tubers were all doing very well.

EAGLE LAKE: Was rated as “terrific.” The average trout were in the 3-pound class. Boaters were trolling 3-8 feet deep with nightcrawlers or frog-colored Needlefish lures.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: Largest fish was a 5.25 pound rainbow caught at Frenchman’s Cove. The best locations were the dam, Turkey Point and Crystal. The rainbows were ranging 12-23 inches in length. Best action was with nightcrawlers, Power Bait and various lures.

FROG LAKE: No report.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR: No report.

KINNEY RESERVOIR: Ebbetts Pass Road is closed.

MARKLEEVILLE CREEK: Two fly fishermen reported limits of rainbows each day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. They were using Royal Coachman and green-colored mosquito flies.

MOKELUMNE WILDERNESS AREA: No report.

PLEASANT VALLEY CREEK: No report.

PYRAMID LAKE: No report.

RAYMOND LAKE: No report.

RED LAKE: No report.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: Fishing for wild rainbows continued to be good, using Glo-Bugs in salmon egg colors. Not much king salmon activity. A few late fall salmon in the Balls Ferry area.

SCOTT LAKE: No report.

SILVER LAKE: No report.

SILVER CREEK: No report.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR: No report.

LAKE TAHOE – North Shore: Easy limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to 6 pounds. Fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of Kings Beach. Trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades with pearl-colored Apex lures, live minnows or three-inch, blue-colored, rubber minnows.

TAMARACK-SUNSET LAKES: No report.

WALKER LAKE: Last Thursday, Don and Norma Reasons of Carson City caught a total of eight cutthroat trout, up to 4.5 pounds. They were fishing with Bob Tompkins of the Walker Lake Guide Services. They trolled at a depth of 25 feet with Fire Tiger, U-20 Flatfish lures.

Last Saturday, Don Quilici, outdoor editor for the Nevada Appeal, and Bud Higgins of Douglas County caught and released more than 15 cutthroat. Quilici’s five largest trout were a 7.73 pounder, a 6.82 pounder and three others at about four pounds each. The five trout weighed more than 26 pounds. The two fishermen were trolling at a depth of 40 feet in front of “The Cliffs” with silver-colored, U-20 Flatfish lures.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: No report.

WINNEMUCCA LAKE: No report.

WOODS LAKE: No report.
