The Fallon Greenwave boys basketball team won 72-65 Friday night at Truckee.

Every quarter was close with only a few points difference. Fallon led in the first half, claiming a six-point lead in the first quarter, 20-14; the Greenwave stretched the lead to 10 points at halftime, 39-29. In the second half, Truckee cut into the lead but wasn’t able to get any closer than seven points.

Fallon’s Elijah Jackson was the team leader with 18 points. Close behind were John Cooley and Christian Nemeth with 13 points each. Thomas Steele scored 10, Hayden Strasdin eight, Brock Richardson seven, and Trey Rooks three.

Nemeth led Fallon on defense, tallying eight rebounds; Steele claimed six while Strasdin and Rooks each had five. The team also tallied 17 assists and 17 steals.

Fallon coach Chelle Dalager said they played well. She said they had control of the court from the start and did well scoring and sharing the ball.

She noted they were a little sloppy in the beginning, but quickly recovered.

“Overall I was pleased with our work ethic,” she said.

The Greenwave takes on Dayton Friday at 7:30 p.m. for their last home game. The game also will be senior night, where the team’s sole senior Christian Nemeth will be recognized for this time and accomplishments on the team.
