McAlman, Puzey honored academically

Carson High graduate Alex McAlman and Douglas High graduate Brittany Puzey have been honored for the academic achievements by the Western Athletic Conference.

McAlman, who competed for the University of Nevada track team as a freshman this past season, was named to the WAC’s freshmen/transfer all-academic team covering the fall, winter and spring sports seasons.

Puzey, who just completed her sophomore year with the Nevada softball team, was named to the all-WAC academic team for the spring sports season.

To be eligible to be honored, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
