RENO – The University of Nevada men’s basketball team is expected to sign at least three players to national letters of intent today, including McQueen High’s Matt LaGrone.

The other signees, according to Rivals.com, are expected to be 6-11 center Javale McGee from Hales Franciscan High School in the Chicago area and 6-3 shooting guard Brandon Fields from Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas.

LaGrone, a 6-foot-8 power forward, transferred to McQueen over the summer from the San Diego area. He is currently playing tight end for the McQueen football team, and will don a Lancer basketball uniform when the Lancers’ grid season is finished.

Fields made only one visit when he declared his preference for Nevada. He would join a talented backcourt next year which includes Marcelus Kemp, Lyndale Burleson, Kyle Shiloh and Ramon Sessions. Fields verbally committed during the fall.

According to reports, McGee is the 17th-ranked player in the Chicago area. He only gave a verbal to the Wolf Pack coaching staff on Nov. 8, according to reports at Rivals.com.

Nevada coaches aren’t allowed to talk about recruits until the signed intent letters are received at the school.
