The Aggies boast eight hitters batting .300 or better – Hopkins, Aguirre, Long, Rodden, Lance, Harvey, Maytubby and Fields – entering the series. Pitching has been the team’s Achilles heel. The staff has an ERA of 8.10. The Aggies are 8-2 when scoring 10 or more runs and the Aggies are 1-10 when scoring six or fewer runs. Fields is coming off a 5-for-5 effort against BYU in an 8-6 loss.

SCOUTING NEVADA: Nevada hitters got well at the expense of Northern Illinois’ pitching staff en route to a five-game sweep of the Huskies. Scobee was named the WAC’s top hitter after going 7-for-15 with four homers, six RBI and 10 runs scored last week … David Ciarlo and Leo Radkowsky have switched defensive positions. Ciarlo moving over to short and Radkowsky to second … The Nevada bullpen was 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 23 2/3 innings against Northern Illinois … Bowman is on a 7-game hitting streak, and he’s hitting .467 (14-for-30) in that stretch.
