Pack outscores Bluejays in overtime

NEW ORLEANS ” After a one-year hiatus, Nevada is back in the second round of he NCAA Tournament.

The 13th-ranked Wolf Pack outscored Creighton 18-12 in the overtime period en route to a 77-71 victory in their opening round game Friday afternoon at the New Orleans Arena.

The game was tied at 59 at the end of regulation, and Nevada never trailed in the five-minute extra period. Nevada played the final 3:06 of overtime without Fazekas, who fouled out.

Marcelus Kemp, who finished with 27 poiints and 12 rebounds, scored on a lay-up to start the overtime, and Fazekas added two free throws to give Nevada a 63-59 lead.

Creighton cut the deficit to 66-64, but lay-ups by Kyle Shiloh and Ramon Sessions made it a six-point game and the Bluejays never recovered.

Nevada, 29-4, plays Memphis Sunday. The game time has yet to be determined.
