PREPS: Shadle blanks Hug

RENO – Dayton High sophomore Makayla Shadle beat Hug with her bat and strong right arm on Wednesday afternoon.

Shadle threw a 2-hitter and fanned 11, and she also stroked four hits to lead the Dust Devils to an easy 12-0 win over the Hawks in a non-league softball game.

Kelly Combs collected three hits, while Kalee Alexander and Taryn Schlacta added two hit apiece.

Dayton is 4-1 entering Saturday’s league doubleheader at home against Lovelock at 11 a.m.


SILVER SPRINGS – Virginia City dropped to 2-3 after losing a 10-9 decision to Silver Stage on Wednesday.

Gabby Vanoteghem, Breanna Johnstone and Fakura Brandon led the Mucker offense with two hits apiece.
