MINDEN — Reed only needed 18 offensive plays to score 35 first-half points en route to a 53-16 win against Douglas Friday night at Keith Roman Field.

Quarterback Cameron Emerson rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on five carries plus he was 7-for-7 and 113 more yards through the air during the first half. Tre Bussey rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on five carries as the five-time defending region champion Raiders surged to a 35-9 lead.

Douglas (1-1) took the opening kickoff and drove 62 yards in 11 plays before Josh Gurule kicked a 33-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead. Will Williams ignited the drive with a 38-yard run.

Reed (1-1) answered immediately when Emerson completed two passes and then shook loose for a 49-yard touchdown run.

Bussey extended the lead to 14-3 with a 45-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter. Bussey finished the night with 188 yards rushing on 10 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Robert Ferrel scored on a 5-yard run and 31-yard pass in the second quarter then returned the second half kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.

Douglas quarterback Hunter Hickey scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and Ryland DeSomber scored on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
