Freshman Jill Beglin shot 89 to lead Carson to a fourth-place finish at the weekly Sierra League girls golf tournament held Wednesday at Genoa Lake’s Resort Course.

Led by medalist Jax Sohl’s 78, Bishop Manogue edged Douglas by four shots 364-368. Wooster was third at 419 and Carson finished at 467, a scant three shots ahead of Damonte Ranch. Galena fielded an incomplete team again.

Carson returns to action next Wednesday at Arrowcreek.

Beglin’s 89 put her in a fifth-place tie. Camryn Aten shot 95, Angelika Morrison 117 and Aly Perry 166. Elise McLaren withdrew after nine holes due to illness.

“The girls played well today in very windy conditions,” CHS coach Wade Greenlee said. “Camryn played outstanding. In tougher conditions than last week, she dropped her score by 10 shots, Even Aly’s score was important. We needed it to place fourth and stay in contention for regionals.”
