Prep roundup: Dayton boys bounce back for win
DAYTON — Dayton High’s boys basketball team bounced back from a disappointing overtime loss to Fallon on Friday to knock off South Tahoe, 50-45, Saturday afternoon.
The win was Dayton’s second of the league season against eight losses.
“We controlled the flow of the game,” said Kevin Ply, Dayton’s assistant coach. “We only had three 3s. Ninety percent of our baskets were lay-ups. We also shot better at the line today (11-for-18). It was a good bounce back game for us.”
Chase Peterson hit three free throws late in the game to help seal the win. He finished with 10 points, all in the second half. Josh Riders led Dayton with 22 points and Trevor Burrows added eight. Blake Fletcher had seven points, four rebounds and three assists.
Dayton played without J.J. Ply (ankle).
Tommy Cefalu finished with 18 points and Ethan Strain added 10. Former Dayton forward Blake Blocker, who has been hampered with a rib injury, had just three free throws for the Vikings.
