Prep roundup: Dayton girls basketball knocks off Whittell
ZEPHYR COVE — After a tough loss Thursday, the Dayton girls basketball team rebounded for a 59-46 win over Whittell Friday.
Angela Sikora had a huge game with her seconds straight double-double, posting 37 points and 11 rebounds for Dayton. Also for the Dust Devlis, Elora Neep had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals, Kristina Mason had eight rebounds and two points and Abby Sikora added five rebounds and two points.
“I was rally proud at the intensity we played with all game,” Dayton coach Kelly Frantz said. “We ran the floor and kept our turnovers down and we were able to break their press consistently which had a big impact on being able to set up offensively.”
On Thursday, Fall River knocked off the Dust Devils, 65-31.
Angela Sikora had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Mason had nine rebounds and two blocks and Cassie Dickenson had four points and three rebounds for Dayton
“We couldn’t get our offense going, and we let Fall River have to many easy steals and lay-ups,” Frantz said. “I wish we had played better against their team, but we just didn’t take care of the ball.”
Carson off to slow start
The Carson High ski teams sit in sixth and seventh, respectively, after the recent Tahoe Basin Ski League giant slalom at Sierra at Tahoe.
The CHS girls are sixth with 89 points and the boys seventh with 80.
As a team Carson is at 169 total points, good for sixth place.
Richard Stock was the top CHS finisher, taking 25th place with a two-run total of 1:13.4.
Connor McRae was 37th at 1:20.87 and Karson Law was 50th in 1:30.9.
Anna Glenn was 29th in 1:30.8 and Bailee Barber was 37th in 1:49.5 and Alison Greene was 38th in 1:49.7.
