WildCats go 1-3 in tourney at Incline
The U-18 Nevada WildCats, who were playing shorthanded, compiled a 1-3 record at an ASA tourney at Incline Village last weekend.
The WildCats lost their first two games, 7-6 to the San Carlos Force, and 6-2 to the Reno Heat.
The WildCats ended pool play with a 13-1 win over the San Francisco Angels. The WildCats lost their first elimination game 4-3.
Kindra Ryals pitched the first three games, and Kaitlyn Jimmy pitched the Sunday game.
Megan Hospodka went 5-for-8 with six runs scored, Valerie Quam went 6-for-13 with six RBI, Kelsie Callahan went 4-for-11 with eight RBI, Ryals went 4-for-10 with a homer and four RBI, and Bailey Henderson went 3-for-11 with two RBI.
U-10 WildCats go 1-4
The WildCats, with just four practices under their collective belts, compiled a 2-3 record at the Incline Village ASA tournament over the weekend.
The locals lost 4-3 to the Berkeley Sting in the opening game on Saturday. They followed that with an 8-7 loss to the Rocklin Thunder Cats and then completed pool play with a 15-0 loss to the Los Altos Magic. On Sunday, the WildCats beat the San Jose Renegades, 9-0, and then lost to the Magic, 7-5.
Kiley Luschar went 9-for-12 and scored seven runs, while Ashley Rowe and Abby Golic each went 4-for-8. Taylynn Dondero went 3-for-11.
U-16 Sharks win softball title
The Carson U-16 Sharks, playing in the U-18 division, beat the Reno Envy, 12-2, to win the championship recently.
The Sharks went 4-0.
Madison VonDuering and Kandis Tuttle combined pitching efforts on Sunday. Each gave up one run. VonDuering threw both games on Saturday.

Sullivan, Sheerin win matches at T. Canyon
Joann Sheerin defeated Bianca Daykin 11.5-6.5, and Karon Sullivan knocked off Joyce Powell, 11-7, in match play at Thunder Canyon on July 19.
In other matches, Shelly Brewster stopped Linda Escher 10.5-7.5, Pam Whalen defeated Carol Boice 10-8, Monica Pike edged Jennifer Clements 10-8, Virginia Bonar nipped Barbara Plymell 10-8, Jeanne Brennan knocked off Sandi Oglesby 10-8 and Elaine Easterling edged Christy Atencio 10-8, Cathy Weise got by Ursula Tracy 9.5-8.5, Shirley Westfall edged Susan Hood 9.5-8.5, Leanne Crowell knocked off Ellen Ewing 9.5-8.5 and Kathy Cockerill won 9.5-8.5 over Claudia Goodnight.
• Dave Waldron and Jack Bonar, and Glen Tsuda and TC Boice shot net 64s to tie in the men’s 4-ball event.
Kent Cooper and Vern Hamilton, Rob Jennings and Scott Keegan, and Charlie Cockerill and Charlie Kilpatrick shot 64s.
Hartung-Wagner duo win best-ball event
Hermann Hartung and Buzz Wagner shot a net 53 to win Silver Oak’s Senior Men’s Club 2-man best ball on July 16.
Ray Moore and Eric Fujita were second at 55, and third was a tie at 56 with the teams of Bob Lewis and Alex Talmant, and Terry Thomas and Tony Barbaria.
John Scoville, Gary Yoakum, Tim Bloom, Bruce Kozak and Larry Hamann were closest to the hole winners.
Hetherton wins top flight at Empire
Bill Hetherton shot a net 63 to win Flight A at the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club event on July 17. Gary Dalen was second with a 64, while Nick Paul and Ken Stone tied for third at 65.
Ken Hollman won Flight B with a 57, while Myron Carpenter had a 62. Tony Barbaria was third with a 64. Phil Polaske and Dick Brownfield tied for Flight C honors with 61s. Paul Lockwood, Dan Rodgers and George Allison were next with 62s.
Don Becker, Stone. Hans Ehrlin and Ray Huntley were closest to the hole winners.
Allen, Davis, Schreiber win CVGC event
Bill Allen (par-3s), Mike Davis (par-4s) and Jeff Schreiber (par-5s) won their respective par holes in Flight A at Carson Valley Golf Club.
In Flight B, Brick Ludington won par-3s and par-5s, and Augie Martinez won par-4s. In Flight C, John Guidicatti, won par-3s, Jim Arens won par-4s and Robert Van Nort won par-5s.
Tennis lessons set for Centennial Park
Youth tennis lessons are continuing at Centennial Park under the guidance of Diane Baker Roberts.
The clinics are open to players 4-16 and run Monday through Thursday. No classes will be held the week of July 29, but will resume on Aug. 5.

The Carson High girls basketball team is teaming with Chili’s for a fundraiser Aug. 5-7.
