Wooster tames Carson volleyball in 4 games

RENO — Despite losing in four sets to Wooster Tuesday night, the Carson Senators still are alive in their quest to finish fourth in the Sierra League.

Carson lost 21-25, 25-20, 13-25 and 19-25. Wooster improved to 8-7 and clinched the No. 3 spot in the Sierra League. Carson dropped to 6-9, one match ahead of Damonte, 5-10.

Carson wraps up its regular season with an away match at Douglas at 6 p.m. Thursday.

“Wooster played well,” said CHS coach Robert Maw. “We just had an off night, I expect Thursday to be a big, emotional night.”

Juliana Anderson led hitters with 12 kills, while Gaby Palazzolo added seven kills. Jaycie Roberts had 23 digs and Savannah Smith added 14. Danielle Good had 35 assists, while Kylie Riske had five blocks.

Yerington finishes league undefeated

Yerington finished league with a 14-0 league record with a three-game sweep of Silver Stage on Tuesday.

Game scores were 25-7, 25-14 and 25-15.

Jazzmin Bryan had six kills, Jesslyna Cochrane had five aces, Chloe Dane had eight kills and four digs. Angela Sciarani had five aces, four digs and three kills. Ashley Rife had 22 assists for the Lions.

Yerington is 23-9 overall.

V.C. knocks off Sierra Lutheran

Virginia City knocked off Sierra Lutheran in four games on Tuesday night. Game scores were: 22-25, 25-18, 25-8 and 25-21.

Leading the Muckers was Niki D’Agostino with 12 kills, 10 digs and eight aces. Nicole Huffman added 15 assists, 11 aces and five kills. Shannon Parsons had four kills and Bethany Fuller added eight digs.

Dayton boys lose 4-0

The Dayton boys soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to South Tahoe on Tuesday at home. Jeff Brooks made 19 saves for the Dust Devils. Dayton’s Sergio Talavera, Spencer Ruiz and Jorddy Diaz were credited for their defense during the game.

Dayton closes its season Thursday at Dayton.

In girls soccer action: Dayton lost to South Tahoe. No other information was provided.

JV FOOTBALL

Carson JV football wins

Jared Rooker rushed for two scores and caught a TD pass to spark Carson to a 48-0 win over Fallon last week.

The shutout was Carson’s third straight heading into the season finale Thursday at Douglas at 5:30.

Rooker gained 104 yards on the ground. Elijah Fajayan ran for 109 yards and a score, while Connor Pradere had four catches for 94 yards and a score and Mathias Williams had a 23-yard TD catch. Quarterback Vic Castro V went 11-for-12 passing for 211 yards. Diego Francis recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for Carson’s other score.

Brady O’Keefe led the defense with eight tackles and a blocked punt. Cameron Radtke had seven tackles while Ikela Lewis had five stops and a sack.
