River Bandits win in World Series

The Western Nevada River Bandits were able to pull out a 13-12 win over the Kennewick Stars on Wednesday in the USABA 17 and under World Series in Pasco, Wash.

Kennewick was last year’s USABA 15 and under World Series champion. Kennewick’s team features many players from that club along with its 17-year-olds.

Leadoff hitter Aaron Henry of Carson High went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs scored for the River Bandits. Dayton’s Matt Bowman scored three runs while Carson’s Willie Bowman added an RBI.

Reed’s Lucas DeLong went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Manogue’s Darren Deweese had two hits and three RBIs. Wooster’s Tyler Smit, who was the winning pitcher in this past season’s Northern 4A title game against Reno, was the winning pitcher.

The River Bandits finish round robin play today against Compton, Calif. and Walla, Walla, Wash.
