Rohrbough among Braves’ top prospects

Appeal Staff Report

Former Western Nevada College pitcher Cole Rohrbough has been ranked as the Atlanta Braves seventh best prospect out of the top 10 prospects in the entire Braves minor league system by Baseball America.

Baseball America’s Top 10 Prospects lists are based on projections of a player’s long-term worth after discussions with scouting and player-development personnel.

Rohrbough, a left-handed pitcher, is also listed as having the best curveball and the best control of any of the Braves’ prospects in their system. In its projected 2011 lineup for the Braves’ major league team, Baseball American also has Rohrbough listed as the No. 3 starter.

Rohrbough had an outstanding summer for the Braves in the minor leagues. With the Rookie League Danville Braves, Rohrbough posted a 3-2 record with a 1.08 earned run average with 58 strikeouts to just eight walks in 33.1 innings.

He was eventually promoted to the lower Class A Rome Braves where he went 2-0 with a 1.29 E.R.A. with 38 strikeouts and 12 walks in 28 innings.
