CONVICT LAKE AND CONVICT CREEK:

Convict Lake: The inlet area was rated as very good for red/gold Thomas Buoyant lures.

Convict Creek: Many limits on salmon eggs or inflated nightcrawlers.

DAVIS LAKE: Trollers were scoring with any type of lure 6-12 feet deep. Float tube fly fishermen were doing well from Jenkins Point to Cow Creek with cinnamon Woolly Bugger flies. Shore anglers were using Power Bait, just off the bottom. The average size of the fish was 14 inches.

EAGLE LAKE: Was rated as “terrific.” Lots of fish for trollers fishing 3-8 feet deep with all types of lures. The average fish was in the 3 pound class.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: Calif. F&G planted 35,000 4-6 inch rainbows last week. The lake was beginning to turn over. Fly fishermen were catching rainbows with cinnamon Woolly Buggers. Best fishing was in the deeper water for boaters.

HOBART RESERVOIR: Closed.

JUNE LAKE LOOP (GRANT-GULL-JUNE-SILVER LAKES-RUSH CREEK):

Grant Lake: Fly anglers were scoring with nymphs or small Mayfly patterns.

Gull Lake: No report.

June Lake: Was best in the early morning hours for trollers with rainbow Rapala lures.

Silver Lake: A 7 pounder on worms. Several others 5 pounds or larger. Using salmon eggs, worms or olive Matuka flies.

Rush Creek: An 8 pounder was caught with salmon eggs.

PYRAMID LAKE: No report.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: The Anderson-Balls Ferry area was still holding huge schools of king salmon in the 30-40 pound range. Successful anglers were using roe or sardine wrapped Kwikfish lures. The Barge Hole, Old Mouth and the big holes in the canyon were stuffed with big fish. The river was flowing at 6,500 CFS.

SOUTH-NORTH-INTAKE 2-BISHOP CREEK (WEST OF BISHOP):

South Lake: Fishing has been fair. The water level is down about 15 feet. Best action has been for German browns with nightcrawlers or lures such as Blue Fox or Kastmaster. Some trout were being picked up by trolling with flashers and nightcrawlers.

North Lake: Best results were with worms, salmon eggs or Sierra Gold.

Intake No. 2: Same report as North Lake.

Sabrina Lake: No report.

Bishop Creek: Fishing has remained good. Lots of fish were being caught with worms, salmon eggs or dark colored Roostertail lures.

LAKE TAHOE – North Shore: Easy limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to 6 pounds. Caught and kept 7 “Macks” on Monday. Caught, tagged and released another 7 Mackinaw. Fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of Kings Beach. Trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades with pearl-colored Apex lures, live minnows or three-inch, blue-colored, rubber minnows.

TOPAZ LAKE: Closed.

WALKER LAKE: Anglers got blown off the lake on Saturday. The weather was beautiful on Sunday. Best results were with silver Kwikfish or Flatfish lures. Good action also reported with the new fire tiger TOR-P-DO lures. Catching cutthroat trout up to 6 pounds all along the west shore with the best success in front of “the Cliffs.” Boaters were trolling 25-50 feet deep. Shore fishing was rated as fair.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: The weather has cooled off. The Saturday low temperature was 2 degrees. German brown fishing has picked up by the dam. A fly fisherman in a float tube limited out with browns in the 16-21 inch class. Trollers were limiting out with nice-sized rainbows on Friday and Saturday with yellow lures.
