VIRGINIA CITY SOFTBALL SPLITS

The Virginia City softball team split its opening two games on Friday. The 1A school beat 2A Hawthorne 6-4 and lost to Lee Vining, Calif., 8-2.

Krysta Olsen was the winning pitcher against Hawthorne, pitching a three-hitter. Megan Culleton went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Jami Lyle went 1-for-1 with an RBI and Shaye Segale added an RBI.

Against Lee Vining, Olsen struck out seven and allowed just one hit, but Lee Vining took advantage of Virginia City’s mistakes for the win. Jamie Lyle doubled and had an RBI and Shaye Segale had Virginia City’s other hit and RBI.
