WAC: Fresno State upends La. Tech
RUSTON, La. – Ryan Colburn passed for 229 yards and three touchdowns to Jamel Hamler as Fresno State defeated Louisiana Tech 40-34 on Saturday.
Robbie Rouse rushed for 286 yards and a touchdown on 43 carries as Fresno State (6-2, 4-1 Western Athletic Conference) gained 529 yards total offense, 229 rushing and 300 passing.
Louisiana Tech (3-6, 2-3) led 14-0 less than four minutes into the game, but Fresno State came back to take a 17-14 lead as Colburn threw 6- and 10-yard touchdown passes to Hamler, who finished with eight catches for 118 yards, and Kevin Goessling kicked a 49-yard field goal.
Louisiana Tech retook the lead on Ross Jenkins’ 20-yard pass to Taulib Ikharo, but Fresno State scored three times in an 8:53 span of the fourth quarter to lead 33-21 as Colburn scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 33-yard pass to Hamler, and Goessling kicked a 27-yard field goal.

New Mexico State 22
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State scored 17 second-half points behind 114 rushing yards from running back Derrvin Speight and topped New Mexico State 27-22 Saturday.
Utah State (3-6, 1-4 Western Athletic Conference) took its first lead of the game with 9:07 to play in the game when quarterback Diondre Borel pitched to Eric Moats on an option run for a 12-yard score, giving USU a 24-20 edge. On its next possession, USU opted for a 24-yard field goal by Peter Caldwell rather then attempt a fourth-down play on the 2-yard line, to make the score 27-20.
New Mexico State (2-7, 1-4) tried to tie the game on a fourth-down play with 57 seconds to play, but USU’s Quinton Byrd knocked down the pass attempt. NMSU’s scoring in the second half came on a career-long 48-yard field goal by Tyler Stampler and a last-second safety as USU ran out the clock.
