A Funeral Mass for Roberta M. Bence, 89, a 44-year Carson City resident, will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. A viewing will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bence died March 20, 2006, in Reno. She was born May 8, 1916, in Sunkist, to Charles T. Smith and Maude Blanch.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Lemon Cove, Calif.

She worked for the State of Nevada for 22 years with the Public Employees Retirement System and the Department of Taxation. She retired in 1986.

Mrs. Bence was active in the State of Nevada Employees Association, the Ormsby ARC, the Republican Party and served as board member for the Nevada State Employees Credit Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and four sisters.

Among her survivors are her son John T. Bence of New York City; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Stephen Armstrong of Sparks; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Burial will be at Woodlake Cemetery in Woodlake, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund, 5335 Snyder Ave., Carson City, NV 89701.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
