The executive director of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce has resigned, but said she still will help out until a replacement is found.

Carol Thompson declined to give a reason for her resignation, saying she was not ready to do so, but may comment in the future.

"I am in the office frequently, and still doing little things to help them continue," she said. "I am still there from time to time. I haven't left completely."

Kevin Hogan, manager of SlotWorld Daytona and the president of the chamber, said Thompson resigned as executive director on Monday but confirmed she would still provide some assistance.

He said he didn't know when another director would be hired.

"We're evaluating our options at the present time," he said.

Sharon Glashan of S&R Business Adventures, the secretary for the executive committee said there was no clear reason for the resignation. "She was just going on to different things."

Thompson organized the first Lyon County Economic and Critical Issues Conference in May at the Dayton Valley Country and Golf Club at Legado, which was designed to focus on the needs and issues facing the area's economic development. She also organized the Oodles of Noodles street festival that same month, which is the chamber's primary fundraiser.
