Carson City late model racer Mackena Bell will drive her last race of the 2008 season at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. on Saturday.
Bell finished eighth in the championship standings for the NASCAR Whelen Late Model Series at the track, and is also ranked in the top 25 California NASCAR late model drivers and in the top 200 in the nation.
On Saturday Bell will be competing against a stock car rookie who is perhaps better known for driving in a straight line. NHRA Funny Car driver Ron Capps will make his stock car debut in a Toyota Camry prepared by Bill McAnally Racing. If Capps was to equal his best straight line speed of 333 miles per hour, he would be turning 3.6 second laps at the 1/3 mile Roseville track. Capps, who along with Michael Waltrip is a NAPA Auto Parts spokesman, is excited about the opportunity.
"Getting a call from Bill McAnally, who is considered one of the top NASCAR team owners on the West Coast, was awesome," said Capps, a three-time runner-up in the NHRA Funny Car championship. "He said he'd been following me. And the chance to go up there and drive is incredible."
The Roseville Toyota/Ward Land Management and Development Late Model 100 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.
Also on the card is the Toyota/Napa Auto Parts 150 presented by Thunder Valley Casino for the NASCAR Camping World West Series (formerly known as Winston West). It is the season finale for the series, and will decide the 2008 champion. Point leader Eric Holmes and second place contender Jason Bowles have been fighting for the championship since the first race of the season, also at Roseville. Holmes will wrap up the championship as long as he finishes 13th or better Saturday, according to Kevin Green, NASCAR spokesperson.

Ticket prices are: Adults $35; juniors $15 (6-11); under 5 free; gates open at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
