The SolarGenerations, solar rebate program is expanding to include incentives for wind and hydroelectric power systems.
Sierra Pacific Power and Nevada Power officials say cash rebates will soon be available to help offset costs for wind turbines and small agricultural hydroelectric systems as well as photovoltaic solar systems.
The 2007 Nevada Legislature voted to make SolarGenerations a permanent program and doubled the total amount of energy eligible for rebates to 3,760 kilowatts. The program has also been renamed RenewableGenerations to reflect the expansion of its scope.
Customers can apply for rebates through the new programs beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 4. The application window will last until Oct. 8.
Officials say customers should apply early because applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residential and small business customers are eligible to apply as are schools and public buildings for the solar and wind rebates. The hydroelectric rebates are only available to agricultural customers.
