Carson City Health and Human Services will be offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5 to 11 years at COVID-19 vaccination events throughout the Quad County Region (Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey counties) starting Monday, Nov, 8.
For dates, locations, and times of the CCHHS community vaccination events visit https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/events/.
At this time, the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized for use in those ages 5 to 11 is the Pfizer vaccine.
Children ages 5 through 11 years receive one-third of the adult dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Adolescents ages 12 years and older receive the same dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as adults. Children will need a second shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine three weeks after the first shot.
CCHHS will continue to offer all three COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen) at the community COVID-19 vaccine clinics. First and second doses are available, and third doses of Pfizer or Moderna are available for those who are immunocompromised.
Booster shots for all vaccines are also available at community events for those who are eligible. COVID-19 Vaccine Record Card or a printout of official vaccination record is required for second, third, and booster doses.
The CDC recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a vaccine to help protect against COVID-19.
