Speed is a suspected factor in a Tuesday, June 14 crash where a gray 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled over, killing a 15-year-old Carson City teen.
The Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division said Friday the crash occurred at 11:41 p.m. on I-580 north near Fairview Drive.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned.
The front passenger, a 15-year-old Carson City resident, who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected from the vehicle and died.
The rear female passenger, a juvenile, was transported to an area hospital by Care Flight with serious injuries.
The male driver, a juvenile, sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
This crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case #220600964. If anyone has any information about this crash, send an email to ncwmirt@dps.state.nv.us and reference the case number.
