The Greenwave wrestling team is gaining momentum at the right time.

Fallon finished third in the Colt Invitational in South San Francisco on Saturday, with seven wrestlers placing, including one champion.

Fallon hosts the Northern 3A duals on Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the 3C Rafter Center. The two-day event is used to determine seedings for next weekend’s regional tournament in Spring Creek.

The girls regional tournament is Friday and Saturday at Reed High School.

The top-four wrestlers in the regionals advance to the state meet on Feb. 16 at the Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Senior Quentin Hornbeak won the 167-pound division while Carson Melendy (140) finished second. Jaiden McFadden (134) was third, Colton Blankenship (177) took fifth, and Andre Green (128) and Troy Shelton (159) each finished sixth. Caden McKnight (146) won the consolation bracket.

Fallon also competed in the two-day Vaquero Classic in Fernley.

Lonnie Adams (132) finished second in the boys bracket while Tommite Fitzer (132) took second and Keliah Brady (165) was fifth in the girls division.
