Letter: Have a prideful nation

This nation is noticeably deficient in numbers of “flag wavers and bell ringers.” After reading some recent opinions which deplores this sense of patriotism and the act of “blind” flag waving I felt compelled to add my proverbial two cents.

I consider myself, my friends and associates encrusted within the silent majority which “walk softly, yet wield one hell of a big stick,” which we interpret as the democratic vote (with ID).

I readily admit to avoid another Watergate or election fraud, we must not resolve ourselves to a philandering affair with our political affiliations. We must also be cognizant that these stale, hackneyed accusations against the American way of life generally proliferate within “political distorted ideological minds” of the likes of Frommes, Moores and Davises.

While the majority of Americans are NOT blind flag wavers, they are prideful that they constitute the foundation of a house of free spirits which still governs the direction this nation must pursue or face the consequences!

We may not be as invincibly optimistic as we once were, but Americans are inventive survivors. We are aware that our governmental system has survived multiple wars, and non-war and the total spectrum of adversity.

This USA will continue to function and thrive as long as we don’t relinquish our rights, thoughts and freedom to those loud voices who would propagate the idea that patriotism, flag waving and occasional ringing of the bell is detrimental to the nation.

Have a prideful 2024 all the way through Nov. 5.
