Deputy wins gold medal at winter games

Churchill County Deputy Sheriff Trevin Goodrick recently competed at the 2016 inaugural World Police and fire Winter Games held at Mammoth Ski Resort, Calif.

Goodrick finished first in the 8 kilometer cross country ski race, also referred to as the 8K skate, in 30:33 for the goldmedal. The field consisted of 25 competitors in the 18-to-39-year-old age bracket.

The second- place competitor finished a full five minutes behind to claim the silver medal.

Goodrick previously won gold at the 2015 World Police and Fire Summer Games held in Fairfax Va., in the 800-meter run.

With this latest performance Goodrick became the first athlete to win gold in both the summer and winter Police and Fire games.

LA Police Gear sponsored the winter games.

Goodrick has been with Churchill County Sheriff’s Office since 2011 where he began in the Detention Division. He currently serves in the Patrol Division.
