Doris Jean Metters (Byrd)

Doris Jean Metters (Byrd) of Gardnerville, NV, passed away peacefully on December 8th surrounded by loved ones.
Beloved wife of the late Donald Metters, she is survived by daughters Teresa, Kathleen, Elizabeth, son Leslie, stepson Duane, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild, as well as her brothers James Byrd, and Daniel Gill, and sister Debbie Byrd.
Doris was born on December 23, 1939, in Louisville Kentucky. She enjoyed a long career with Ford Motor Company in Southern California before retiring to Gardnerville with her beloved husband Don, where they built their dream home together. Doris loved living in the Carson Valley, and was proud to be a longtime member of the Carson Valley Cruisers. She also enjoyed being a member of the Crystal Angels philanthropic organization and participated in numerous charity events. Doris was an avid gardener, and was quite devoted to her Shih Tzu dogs, (first Lucee and later Wendy) who she loved very deeply.
Doris will be greatly missed by so many who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of life will be held in Southern California.
