Charles “Chuck” Edward Cox

October 6, 1946 - January 29, 2024

CHARLES “CHUCK” EDWARD COX, formerly of Carson City, Nevada, passed away on January 29, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on October 6, 1946.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Mae Crosby Cox. His surviving daughters are Tamerlee Davidson of Carson City, Nevada, and Jolene Patton (John) of Twentynine Palms, California. He has five Grandchildren, Blake Edward, Brandon Calvin (Kaylee,) Nichole Lynsey (Wyatt,) Cody Allan and Brittany Nicole. He has four Great Grandchildren, Owen Michael, Oliver Charles, Kaden Glenn, and Evelyn Rose. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Killingsworth (Bill,) Bonny Snellings (Bob,) and Carol McCall (Jim,) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jordean Rose “Jerry” Hirtel Cox and Connie Edward “Texas Ed” Cox, Jr. and son-in-law, Glenn Davidson.

He worked for several years of construction in the Sacramento area prior to relocating to Carson City, Nevada, as Director of Housekeeping and Laundry Operations for the Ormsby House Hotel Casino. He then started his own business, OMNI-SYSTEMS, and ran it with his wife for 32 years. After retiring from OMNI-SYSTEMS he worked with the Carson City Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Coroner/Death Scene Investigator for five years.

Chuck was an active member of the Washoe Valley Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years as a Captain and an Emergency Medical Technician. This department worked in close association with the Nevada Division of Forestry and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.

He enjoyed spending time hunting large game and waterfowl, long-range deep-sea fishing, camping, and sharing his time and knowledge with his family, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sacramento, California in the Spring.
