March with one of the greatest musical theatre classics this fall, as the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company auditions for Meredith Willson's "The Music Man," to be presented weekends Nov. 3-18 at the Carson City Community Center.

Performers are invited to audition 6 p.m. Tuesday in Aspen 207 of the Western Nevada Community College Carson City campus.

Auditions are open to everyone in the community: each cast member must register with WNCC to participate in the show, and all credit students will receive a scholarship to defray half of their registration expenses for the show.

Casting calls for 26 speaking roles, a dance troupe and chorus. The show can accommodate a large cast. Several songs are written for barbershop quartet, which may be cast as a pre-existing quartet or as individuals. The role of Harold Hill calls for an energetic performer with strong rhythm, ranging from 30-40 years old. Marian calls for a lyric soprano between the ages of 22 and 32.

Stephanie Arrigotti is the producer and director, Bob Grant the associate director, and Gina Kaskie Davis the choreographer.

Auditioners should come prepared to sing a song two minutes or less in length to demonstrate their vocal style and range. They can bring a taped accompaniment or provide the accompanist with a musical score.

Advanced instrumentalists can be part of the "Music Man" orchestra.

Musicians should call 445-4250 for an audition.
