Reported abandoned mine incidents, according to the Nevada Division of Minerals:

- May 1971: A 15-year-old boy injured in fall down 200-foot shaft in Carson City.

- April 1975: Two boys killed when motorcycles fall into mine shaft in Clark County.

- December 1978: A child killed in a fall in Clark County. Body never recovered.

- April 1979: Two teenagers killed in a fall in Lyon County.

-September 1988: An elderly man's body found at the bottom of a mine shaft in Lyon County.

- September 1989: A man seriously injured in a fall in Clark County.

- March 1990: A teenage boy lost for 19 hours in a Nye County mine.

- May 1990: A dog killed in a fall in Humboldt County.

- February 1991: A 40-year-old man killed in a fall in Douglas County.

- May 1991: A 13-year-old boy injured in a 20-foot fall in Washoe County.

- December 1991: A 44-year-old man killed in a fall in Lyon County.

- September 1992: A 28-year-old woman injured in a fall in Douglas County.

- October 1992: A 27-year-old news reporter injured in a mine blast in Humboldt County.

- November 1993: A dog rescued from a 30-foot shaft in Humboldt County.

- June 1995: A 30-year-old man killed in a scuba accident in water-filled mine in Humboldt County.

- March 1996: A 31-year-old man injured in a fall in Clark County.

- September 1996: Two 35-year-old men killed by suffocation in a mine in Virginia City, Storey County.

- July 1998: A 20-year-old man injured in a fall in Esmeralda County.

- September 1998: Dog rescued from 20-foot shaft in Douglas County.

- October 1998: Two men injured in 50-foot fall in Clark County.

- October 1999: An 11-year-old girl killed in fall down 130-foot shaft in Nye County.
