LOS ANGELES - Armed robbers followed employees into a Home Depot store as it opened Thursday morning, then forced the store manager to take them to a safe and stole about $30,000, police said.

The two suspects, armed with handguns, got into the store in Canoga Park in the San Fernando Valley at about 5:50 a.m. They herded the employees together and one gunman grabbed the manager, asked where the money was, and shot open the door of the office where the safe was kept, said Sgt. John Kielbasa.

It was not clear how the suspect got the money out of the safe.

No one was injured and the gunmen escaped with the money before police arrived. Police said the investigation would continue.
