Boat smart from the start at safety class

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will hold boating safety classes beginning Tuesday. "Boating Safely" is an eight-hour course that will also be taught on July 20, 25 and 27 starting at 7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, 2525 Highway 395, in Carson City.

This beginning course includes boating terminology, seamanship, weather, trailering, and other topics. Cost is $25 for the textbook.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is active in promoting boating safety in Carson City and the surrounding areas through public education courses, voluntary boat safety checks, and safety patrols on area lakes in their

volunteered vessels.
