Networking is one of the most important tools in finding employment. Even in today's tight labor market, companies are looking toward "known" sources to fill their openings. Even though companies spend their advertising dollars on recruitment ads, they actually hire 40 percent to 50 percent of their employees via recommendations either from colleagues, family members or friends.

- Speak to colleagues

- Go to trade association meetings

- Do community volunteering

- Talk to your family and friends
