Carson City Symphony elects officers

Rehearsals for the new Carson City symphony season began last week in the band room of Eagle Valley Middle School. Instrumentalists interested in auditioning should contact conductor David Bugli at 883-4154.

Singers wishing to audition for the Carson Chamber Singers should contact director Judy Daniels at 882-7464.

The Board of Trustees of the Carson City Symphony Association, Inc., elected officers for the 2000-2001 season at its recent meeting. They are Elinor Bugli, president; Grant Mills, vice president; Edith Isidoro-Mills, secretary; and Charlotte Tucker, treasurer.

The nine-member board also elected members to the following positions: Volunteer Coordinator/House Manager, Peggy Saville; Capital Arts Coalition Liaison, David Bugli; Publicity, Charlotte Tucker; Stage Manager, Grant Mills; Membership Chair and Instrument Adoptions Coordinator, Rosemary Nebesky; Marketing Director, Steve Browne; Fund-raising and Grants Coordinator, Elinor Bugli; Advertising Coordinator (not a board member) Robert DeSio; and Carol Grenier, audit committee.

David Bugli, conductor and music director of the Symphony, said, "I am delighted to be working with such a talented and enthusiastic board."

The Carson City Symphony Association is a nonprofit educational corporation and is the principal support group of the Carson City Symphony, now entering is 17th season; and of the Carson Chamber Singers, entering its 16th season. The association raises funds, publicizes concerts, and publishes a newsletter.

The first concerts of the 2000-2001 season will be Oct. 21 in Fallon, and Oct. 22 in Carson City. The program will feature Continental Harmony Composer Jim Cockeys commissioned suite for orchestra and chorus, A Land of Sage and Sun; Steven Rosenhaus Nevada Bagatelles; and Antonin Dvoraks Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World").
