Sorensen's Resort will host a special, all-day, guided walk on Tuesday, led by Historian Frank Tortorich. He will lead fellow participants along the historic route of the Emigrant Trail in Hope Valley, Calif.

Along the way, the hikers will learn about the 25,000 '49ers who followed the Emigrant Trail a century and a half ago on their way west in search of gold.

They will also hear about the Mormon Battalion that decided to abandon its attempt to expand into California. That group named the region's three valleys, Faith, Hope and Charity, on the journey home to Utah.

Sorensen's Resort is located at the north edge of Hope Valley, about 35 miles south of Carson City, via U.S. 395, Nevada S.R. 88 and California S.R. 88.

Cost is $45 per person for Sorensen's guests or $65 for non-guests.
