A man in custody on a Carson City aggravated assault charge waived extradition to face possible murder charges in Modesto, Calif.

Scott Aaron Stewart, 30, was interviewed by Modesto Police Department investigators on Tuesday and subsequently arrested on a warrant from Stanislaus County. Reports indicate the alleged murder was committed in 1994.

Carson City Chief Sheriff's Deputy Scott Burau directed questions about the case to investigators in Modesto who weren't available Wednesday to discuss details.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Stewart had not been picked up for transport to a California. He is being held without bail.

Stewart has been in jail since June 6. He was listed as a manager at Friends in Service Helping and lived in the first block of Gibson Street.
