Obituary: Clifford David Frederick

A funeral for Clifford David Frederick, 86, a Dayton resident for the past 30 years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 304 Driftwood Way, Dayton.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Frederick died Oct. 26, 2000, at Carson Healthcare Center. He was born Sept. 17, 1914, in Sidney, N.Y., to Rudolph D. and Lucy "Nettie" Cole Frederick.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Claremont, Calif.

Mr. Frederick worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for seven years, retiring at age 67. He was very active in civic and community affairs, past president of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department and served five years and was past president of the Dayton Regional Council. He helped organize the state park in Dayton and was instrumental in organizing the Santa Maria Festival.

He was past president of the Mills Park Railroad Club and was instrumental in getting the railroad put in Mills Park. He was very active in getting the V&T Railroad up and running again. He enjoyed traveling.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints in Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his brother Charles in May 1999 and sister Rosa Belle Gillen in April 1999.

Among his survivors are his wife of 46 years Afton of Dayton; sons Richard of Monrovia, Calif. and Michael Duffey of Auburn, Calif.; daughters Diane Prothero of Dayton and Judith Ann Habig of Georgetown, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery.
