Mary Ellen Hillmer, 60, of Carson City died Thursday at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
She was born July 31, 1940, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Frank and Francis Valenzuela Otero.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hillmer enjoyed knitting, crafts, doll making, baking, reading mystery novels and spending time with her family. She was a Lutheran.
Mrs. Hillmer had lived in Carson City since 1985, coming from Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California.
Survivors include husband Gary Hillmer, sister Patricia Harsh, sons Michael Lemley and Robert Bennett and daughter Mikki Reissman, all of Carson City; son Matthew Lemley and daughters Michelle Lopez and Meredith Williams, all of Reno; brother Frank Otero of Imperial Beach, Calif.; and sisters Nora Otero of Albuquerque and Christine Sanchez of Ventura, Calif.
A memorial service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
