Obituary: Silas H. Laursen

A graveside service for Silas H. Laursen, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 14 years, will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday at Diamond Crest Cemetery in Susanville, Calif.

Mr. Laursen died Dec. 7, 2000 at Carson Convalescent Center. He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Beeville, Texas, to Charles C. and Arabelle M. Pollard Wilson.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Reno.

He married Loretta Madrid Oct. 10, 1955, in Sparks.

Mr. Laursen worked for the Ormsby Association of Retarded Citizens in Carson City for 12 years. He enjoyed helping people and fishing.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948-50.

Among his survivors are his wife Loretta of Carson City; sons Ben of Redlands, Calif., Martin of Carson City and Wes of Sun Valley; daughters Lorie Barton of Reno, Val Laursen of Mesa, Ariz., Leota Laursen of Anaheim, Calif., Sandy Silva of Chico, Calif. and Lee Krepelka of Colfax, Calif.; sisters Christine McGary and Nita Campbell, both of of Santa Rosa, Calif., Toni Kayner of Halsey, Ore., Margaret Wilder of Standish, Calif. and Vada Duran of Manteca, Calif. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
