The public is invited to attend two open houses to discuss Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit's off-highway draft grant applications for the period Oct. 1, 2000, to Sept. 30, 2001.

The open houses will be held on July 10 at the Lake Tahoe Basin Supervisor's Office, 870 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, and on July 11 at the North Tahoe Convention Center in Kings Beach between 7 and 8:30 p.m.

Forest Service representatives will be available to respond to questions regarding the summer and winter motorized vehicle program on National Forest lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

The two draft applications being prepared are for Winter Operations and Maintenance and Summer Operations and Maintenance.

The winter grant will provide for operation, maintenance, snowmobile trail grooming, signing, resource monitoring and law enforcement on 88,000 acres of National Forest land. The winter snow mobile program consists of grooming approximately 32 miles of roads and designated routes that include Brockway Summit, Watson Lake, Tahoe City and management of snowmobile uses.
