Northern Nevada visitors and residents are invited to attend a "blessing" of Piper's Opera House Tuesday, August 29, in the Opera House Theater at 7:15 p.m.
Father Michael of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Virginia City will officiate, but people of all denominations are invited to attend or participate with blessings of their own through spoken word or music. A group of native American worshipers are scheduled to participate and will be asking that a human chain be formed around the building as the moon rises at 7:35 p.m. as part of their ceremony.
Country and western recording artist Lacy J. Dalton will also be attending, along with the Board of Directors of Piper's Opera House, and people from Nevada Shakespeare Festival and the Comstock Arts Council.
