DAYTON - Time is running short for anyone interested in a position on the Dayton Regional Advisory Council.

Today's 7 p.m. meeting will be the final opportunity to be nominated to fill one of three positions on the seven-member board. To date, incumbents Ray Benefiel (Eldorado Lakes, District 7) and Terry Hall (Mark Twain East, District 6) are running unopposed. No one has come forward to fill the River Village seat (District 5) currently held by Chairman Shannon Wines. Wines said he would not seek re-election.

Voting will follow the final nominations.

Anyone interested in running must have someone from their district present at the meeting to nominate them. All nominees must be registered voters in the district they wish to represent.

All registered voters in Dayton Precincts 8 and 9 are eligible to vote for the three positions.

Also included on tonight's agenda will be an update from the committee researching the question of Dayton becoming an unincorporated town.

The Dayton Regional Advisory Council meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Community Center, Pike Street, Dayton, beginning at 7 p.m. For information call 246-5151.
