"Choices for the 21st Century: Defining Our Role in a Changing World" is a national program designed to engage citizens in open dialogue on contested public policy issues. The Choices Project is a program which consists of four discussions, led by local scholar and businessman Clifton C. Maclin, Jr.
The series will begin on Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Library and continues on consecutive Thursday evenings through Oct. 5.
The global environment and international economy will be the two topics discussed. The discussion series will focus on the question, "Who are we as a nation and how should we define our role in a changing world?" Today we find ourselves in a world that has fundamentally changed.
Recent changes in the international landscape provide a unique opportunity for Americans to consider new directions for national policies both at home and abroad. This reading and discussion series is an open dialogue on the future of our nation's foreign policy, the implications for its domestic policy and the values that shape our public life.
Participation is free and open to everyone from high school students to senior citizens.
Preregistration is required. Participants can pick up a free copy of the anthology: Defining Our Role in a Changing World when preregistering at the Carson City Library. Attendance at all four sessions is strongly recommended.
