A cache of weapons was seized after a Carson City man on probation for DUI tried to obtain a hunting license.

Gregory John Whitten, 47, was arrested after State Parole and Probation officers raided his Hillside Drive Home.

They found 13 live grenade fuses, improvised grenades, riot tear gas, MAC-10 machine guns, Glock .45 revolvers, shotguns, rifles and many other weapons, according to the department.

Whitten was on probation for a Feb. 18 conviction for DUI in Minnesota. He transferred probation from that state to Nevada on April 17.

Parole and Probation officers searched Whitten's vehicle and his home on Dec. 1. The Tahoe-Douglas Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were contacted to take charge of the weapons.

Whitten is being held at the Douglas County jail for probation violation.
