Mary Lou Bentley, Executive Director of the Western Nevada Development District in Carson City, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Development Organizations for the 1999-2000 term to represent NADO members from the Western Region.

NADO members are regional development organizations like Western Nevada DD, that provide economic and community development assistance to local governments and the private sector. NADO promotes economic development in America's small- and medium-sized cities, rural counties and towns. The association advocates building communities by diversifying local economies; providing opportunities by assisting businesses and creating jobs; improving living conditions by upgrading public facilities and is the leading advocate for a regional approach to economic development. NADO's goal is to assure that all rural citizens have the same access to employment opportunities and a quality of life comparable to other Americans.
