The International Chili Society's first chili cookoff of the year in Nevada takes place today in Laughlin and between 75-80 top cooks are set to compete, including some of Northern Nevada's top chili cooks.

Carson City cooks in the cookoff are Dr. Ed Pierczynski - aka Dr. Chili - and his wife Mary. Also heading to Laughlin for the cookoff are Allison and Randy Dietz of Carson City and Marilyn Allen of Dayton. Reno chili cooks Skip and Dione Cooley and Herb and Geneva Holman will also join the event.

The winner qualifies to cook in the ICS world championships in October in Las Vegas.
